Welcome to

Derwent Valley Amateur Swimming Club

Derwent Valley Amateur Swimming Club is based at Derwent pool in Norton. Formed in 1961 and run by dedicated volunteers, we aim to instruct children to be proficient in the four main strokes, to be safe around water, and to foster an enjoyment of the sport. We run teaching classes on Tuesday nights following the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming. We also offer children the opportunity to progress onto 'speedo', our competitive training sessions, and to compete in local league galas.

Just want to say, thank you for everything your doing for all my kids but one in particular who has difficulties. Which I have spoken to Jess and she has gone out off her way to provide the best for him, and to change a few things around to meet him as a person! You didn’t have too but you’ve put his needs first! Can’t thank you enough! X

My two both love coming to swimming and we’ve never had so much as a whisper of any issues, in fact, I would say they feel way more positive about their health and fitness as a result of coming swimming every week. Thanks for all your hard work and time.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to this brilliant club, instructors and members. My child and I have been made to feel so welcome and the level of tuition and dedication is outstanding, she loves it here and although she has a way to go the improvement and her love for it is so evident, thank you all for a great club, just wish I had found you sooner!

About Open Meets = It was a really good day. I’d highly recommend swimmers doing it. The lunchtime entertainment was fab there’s not many places you will see hundreds of children all having fun doing the conga together.

Thank you DVASA and I am really pleased you have lots of positive feedback because you deserve it. I am so grateful you are teaching my little girl to swim, and her brothers and sister before although that was all before covid so ages ago!

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to the DVASC coaches for supporting my daughter today in Beverley. Thank you for meeting us in the entrance, giving her so much guidance and encouragement, and for giving up your time today to enable her to have this opportunity. We had no idea what to expect today, it was huge! She had a fabulous day and came away saying “it was lots of fun”. Thank you both again.

I just wanted to send a quick email to thank everyone at the club for all they do in keeping it going and providing opportunities like last Sunday’s gala. My daughter really enjoys the squad sessions and loved her first gala last weekend. Thank you very much.

Dear Jess and the coaching team, I just wanted to say a massive thank you for accepting my son into your club. Although it was only for a short time, he really enjoyed it and you gave him back his love for swimming. Thank you, Jess, for making the contact with Scarborough and helping him to progress.

I wanted to thank you and the team for such a warm welcome – the girls had an absolutely fantastic time at their first lesson! It’s wonderful to see them enjoying themselves, and also to see my son making such great progress.

Thank you so much to all that volunteer. My daughter really enjoyed this morning. She was nervous and can lack confidence when it comes to pushing herself and doing new things - you were both great - very encouraging and supportive, yet easy going and calm.
Thank you! I could see a definite improvement in her swimming today when compared to her first gala a few months ago and she really did have fun.

A really big thank you to Jess and Maddy for all their help and support for me daughter and all the DVSC competitors yesterday. What a brilliant day they all had and what an event ! You made it so much fun for them all, it was lovely to see her amongst such a super supportive, encouraging group enjoying herself so much. And they all did so well! Thank you for making it possible.
